The essential companion to Vitamin D that most people forget. MK-7 is the most bioavailable form of K2, directing calcium into bones and away from arteries. At $0.13/serving, outstanding value.
NOW Foods K2 MK-7 scores well because it delivers the most bioavailable and longest-acting form of K2 at a dose supported by clinical evidence. The exceptional value ($0.13/serving) and clean formulation earn high marks. No hype penalty because K2 is genuinely underappreciated and under-marketed compared to its evidence base. The evidence score reflects that while observational data is strong, large interventional RCTs are still limited.
Vitamin K2 (menaquinone-7) has growing evidence for bone and cardiovascular health. Knapen et al. (2013) showed 180mcg MK-7 daily for 3 years improved bone mineral content and femoral neck strength in postmenopausal women. Geleijnse et al. (2004, Rotterdam Study, n=4,807) found high dietary K2 intake associated with 50% reduced risk of arterial calcification and cardiovascular mortality. MK-7 has a longer half-life (~72 hours) than MK-4 (~1 hour), making once-daily dosing effective. The 100mcg dose is within the range studied in positive trials.

Most strong evidence is observational (Rotterdam Study). Interventional RCTs are smaller and fewer than for Vitamin D. 100mcg is at the lower end of studied doses — some trials used 180-360mcg. Does not include Vitamin D, which works synergistically. People on warfarin must consult their doctor, as K2 can interfere with anticoagulation.
